Blurring Genres

A book that explores the common themes of rap and punk music through the lyrics of both genres.

I’ve always been really interested in rap music, and after taking a class about the history of punk’s music and culture, I found the common ground of the two genres really interesting. The book includes artists like Outkast, Black Flag, Vince Staples, and The New York Dolls to discuss threads of Rebellion, Nihilism, and Fashion that are present in both styles. The lyrics throughout are represented in an aggressive style, putting a punch on the delivery of the lyrics.
